Covitz:Gruden on the Chiefs

Gruden on the Chiefs

Here's what Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden had to say on Monday about the Chiefs:

"Kansas City, they lost in the last play in New York ... they beat Denver at home. They have a lot of good players. I don't really get into all the wounded duck schemes. We haven't played particularly well on the road. We have to get better, we have to get better. This is the National Football League, there are a lot of surprises right now, and there will be a lot of surprises next week that is for sure."

Gruden had this to say on former Chiefs DT Ryan Sims, who is in his second year as a Tampa Bay backup:

"He is a good player, it is a credit to him. He is helping us out in there backing up Chris Hovan, he goes in there in the rotation rushing the passer, helps Jovan Haye at the three technique. He is in shape, he is a big guy, and he has some versatility in terms of playing the run and giving us a pass rush."

Sims is gonna maul the **** out of Adrian Jones at some point.

What in the world does this mean: "I don't really get into all the wounded duck schemes."

I am suddenly craving a Krispy Kreme doughnut for some reason.

"Chucky" knows the power of Herm ....

The Jets game was somewhat encouraging, but Tampa's the same type of team that's been beating us senseless recently. (Carolina, Tennessee)

If Thiggy and the O score more than 17... that'd be great. I'd love to see if the defense has a pulse...

I'm pretty sure they are going to be in our backfield all day and our Offense will be Hermcuffed again. Likewise, they will pound the rock and beat us like a drum (bongos?).

I believe this is what the kids call "coach speak".

Clearly a shot across the bow at Chan Gailey. Or not. :)

What are the odds that Gruden will check himself in just to lay a lick in on Jiggy?

I am betting you are that old man that used to yell at me when I was 12
for walking on his well manicured lawn.
