How many of you still receive a paper copy of the news?

I read a headline today saying the KC Star had a bunch of layoffs - and was wondering how the industry may be changing. I realize this poll has been done before, but how many of you still receive the newspaper every day, or just Sunday?

Valiant 11-10-2008 11:10 PM

Yeah the paper is also 75cents now..

Mr. Flopnuts 11-10-2008 11:11 PM

The Seattle papers just got done with layoffs as well. Print news is a dying breed.

Coach 11-10-2008 11:11 PM

I do read the paper, but I don't pay for it. Usually somebody's very gracious enough to leave the KC Star at my work, where I usually pick it up for reading during my lunch hour. I know you can get the news, sports, business, etc. on the internet, but you don't get the comic section on the internet.

Reerun_KC 11-10-2008 11:12 PM

Nah, I-net has enough news.

Plus the ink is nasty...

Actually i've found various sites on the net that you can read the daily comics online. I know on my "My Yahoo" homepage I have a Garfield module added on it, it displays the Garfield comic of the day.

I usually buy a Sunday paper just so I have something to read when I'm on the crapper.

Right, but not many of them has the "Get Fuzzy" or "Blondie" or the likes of that.

I've gone one better and acquired a newspaper. heh. My timing is incredible.

But we're trying to position ourselves well online.

If you're curious:
GreenSummit Dispatch: Serving Lee's Summit, Greenwood, and Lake Winnebago

I used to when I took the train/subway to work. Otherwise it's just more convenient to use the internet.

Frazod 11-10-2008 11:23 PM

I'll occasionally buy the Chicago Sun Times for the train ride home, but I no longer subscribe.

I wonder what that big blue KC Star printing building on I-70 is going to be in the future?

Pitt Gorilla 11-10-2008 11:26 PM

We get the daily paper. It's crazy, but I still enjoy the printed paper.

HemiEd 11-10-2008 11:27 PM

We have tried to reduce our deliveries to just Sunday, but they are really hurting. They have offered the full weeks paper to us, at just the Sunday cost. I guess they need the circulation numbers. I told them I didn't want to waste the paper and throw it in the recycle.

Then there is the delivery guy, not sure what he is up to. We get it some days, some days we don't. We always get it Sundays though, great crapper material.

So to answer your question, yes we do, but we are not always sure when.
