I think it's a combination of Harry Potter and Gossip Girl with vampires.

Yeah, it is a teen romance book that involves vampires. Unlike every good piece of vampire fiction, there isn't that element of eroticism. It is very much an "Abstinance Rules!" piece of teen romance drivel.

My favorite part about the movie is that it's painfully obvious that both of the leads absolutely hate it and feel embarrassed to be associated with it.

ITs a fad. And it is basically just emo teenage girls that are into it (the Hot Topic crowd).

I like how the superhuman running scenes look like a corny 80s cartoon with the feet being a blur and no movement in the upper body....

That looks reeruned enough to make me never ever watch this movie....
