who thinks we won't do a dang thing?

seriously, who thinks we will just on our political butts and just spout cheap talk.

i will be so pissed.. this isn't a florida recount

these people just murder 10,000+ americans who didn't do jack squat to them!!!

will we see nothing but rhetoric and political BS???

This is one of the most hideous actions in the history of mankind and I doubt that will go unanswered, if anything because the President knows that anything but a strong response means political suicide.

Iowanian 09-11-2001 01:29 PM

W will paint some desert RED for this cowardly action.....methodical, painfull retribution.

redfan 09-11-2001 01:55 PM

There could be 50k dead

NO way we sit "on our political butts".

This will not go unpunished.

HC_Chief 09-11-2001 01:57 PM

I agree. The scope and scale of this attack is beyond anything we've seen in over a century. Pearl Harbor wasn't this devastating... and at least it was a viable(military) target.

This was just horrendous - devastating and malicious beyond anything our nation has yet faced.

To stand by and do virtually nothing (air strikes & rhetoric) would be political suicide.

Bwana 09-11-2001 01:58 PM

There is ZERO chance that we will just "blow this off." Someone, some place is going to get some "air mail" as of result of these actions.

Lightning Rod 09-11-2001 01:58 PM

Politicians by there very nature look out for #1. They know the US demands retribution. They will make someone pay even if they get the wrong guys. IMHO

I'm somewhat into WWII, but I'm bad about remembering numbers.

Let's say 10,000 people died today. Did we lose that many troops in any one battle in WWII?

AustinChief 09-11-2001 02:01 PM

I sure as shit EXPECT some retribution and QUICKLY!!!

I am normally against protests and whatnot... but if a month or two goes by and we treat this like the USS Cole or the first WTC bombing... I for one will support any kind of movement to get something done!

btw... I've turned off the BBS censor for now... I'll turn it back on tomorrow.

Phobia 09-11-2001 02:05 PM

Clint, hell yeah, we lost 10,000+ in some battles of wwII. My mind is spinning and I can't grasp which ones, but I KNOW there are at least 2.

I think 10k dead is a very low estimate. I think there will be at least 30,000.

Bob Dole 09-11-2001 02:12 PM

Bob Dole's estimate as the second tower crumbled was 30k+.

It's time to start kcking some a$$. We've got legitimate names already. Screw the careful investigation.

Bob Dole expects to see some tangible action by midnight.

Baby Lee 09-11-2001 02:19 PM

Hopefully the numbers, although bad, won't be that bad. MSN has a report from a guy who was on the 81st floor of the first tower. He says everyone (139 people) made it to the ground from there.

DaWolf 09-11-2001 02:24 PM

Oh, this will be answered, and answered hard. An action of this magnitude will not go unanswered, the American people will see to that. And on top of that, as shallow and callous as it sounds right now, Bush knows that what he does in response to this action and how he leads us will define his presidency, so he's not going to kick back and relax...

Raiderhater 09-11-2001 02:28 PM

Dole,
it would be nice to see action taken by midnight, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I trust completely that W isn't gonna let this slide, but I don't expect anything that soon. Hope I'm wrong though, because a major strike that soon after the act is something that needs to be done, and that hasn't happened in quite some time.

Hader,
In the words of Charlie Beckwith, "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out."
