Source: Teixeira, Yanks agree to 8-year deal ESPN.com <!-- end promo plug --> <!-- end story header --><!-- begin left column --> <!-- begin page tools --> <!-- end page tools --><!-- begin story body --> <!-- template inline --> Updated: December 23, 2008, 3:28 PM Free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira has reached agreement with the New York Yankees on an eight-year contract worth more than $170 million, a source involved in the negotiations tells ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney. The Yankees swooped in on Teixeira on Tuesday when it was believed the Boston Red Sox or the Washington Nationals were the likeliest of his future employer. The Red Sox's offer was believed to be in the range of $170 million, and the Nationals reached out with an offer perhaps greater than that of Boston. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3790141 |
Reported by Buster Olney, who earlier reported this morning that Tex was down to two teams - Red Sox and Nationals.

**** the Yankees with a rusty railroad spike.... greedy mother****ers....
|
Good grief.
|
8 years, $170M, full no-trade clause.
Yeah, I'm sure they won't be regretting that deal in oh, three years. |
ROFL
The Red Sox also make out like bandits in the current system, but this really underscores what a joke it is. With the new stadium, it will only get worse. Yankees will have double the payroll of anyone else in baseball soon, if they don't already. |
No ****ing way i thought the Red Sox had him
|
Now will they sign Manny?
|
LMAO
Buster Olney just said the Yank-mes now have the TOP FOUR HIGHEST PAID PLAYERS IN BASEBALL. Wow, that is just hilarious. What a sport. |
Yankees havent won a World Series in 8 years. They can spend all the money they want. Its ZERO gaurantee of anything.

The Yankees are like the damn Mafia..... everyone knows they exist, and that what they do is wrong, but nobody does a damn thing about it till shit's ruined for everyone else...
|
Good God. Is their payroll at 300 mill for the year?
|
Tex is a much better signing for them than the Giambi contract, that's for sure.
