Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs could have interest in San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera if head coach Herman Edwards is not retained.

If this is a repost, well, in the immortal words of Herman ****ing Edwards, get over it.

Another 3-4 coach.

Ok, I guess.

He'd certainly be an upgrade, and snaking him from San Diego would definitely hurt them. I'd have no problem with it.

My thoughts on this.

Ron Rivera cut his teeth as a defensive player with the Bears in the 46 defense.
He coached LBs under Jim Johnson with an attacking 43 blitz scheme.
He was the DC for the Bears in a cover two, a defense that took that team to a SB.
He took over as DC midseason on a Chargers 34 defense that lost it's best player at the start of the season, and yet revitalized that defense after taking over.

This guy has shown he can get players to achieve, and has shown he has unmatched flexibility when it comes to scheme.

He might be my top choice next to Jim Shwartz.

Jesus, they could have interst in Mayor McCheese if Gunther is not retained. This dude gets paid for that.

Teams have to abide by the Rooney Rule and interview at least one minority candidate.

What if he interviews Herm before he fires him?

Great resume as a positional coach and coordinator, but it makes you wonder why he's been passed over countless times for head coach positions.

Every asshat reporter at ESPN has a different "source" feeding them bullshit.

Could be the same reason that Spagnuolo hasn't been hired by anyone yet.

He has the resume, but doesn't interview all that well.

Actually he is a 4-3 coach.

He just didn't change the team mid season to be a 4-3. If he stays hes going to have to stay coaching the 3-4, but Remember the Defense when he was on the Bears?

Not sure if they ran a 4-3 or a 46 though?
