Wow, this guy is smoking some serious weed...
And speaking of good career moves, Matt Cassel soon will leave New England, and it’s safe to say no athlete ever has left this region on better terms. Once the Patriots place the franchise tag on Cassel, the bidding officially will begin and the help the Patriots defense desperately needs will be on the way. No reason to think the Pats won’t parlay a backup quarterback into a starting corner and safety and maybe more.
Of course, a deal already could be in place. The Kansas City Chiefs, who have the third and 35th pick in April’s draft, really could use a quarterback. We hear Belichick has a good relationship with the Chiefs’ new general manager. It could be a win-win for both guys. Just like the old days. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/f...ome&position=1 :bong: |
Um, no. Chase Patton could be had in the second day of the draft.

You don't think the Chiefs might trade for Cassel?

whats wrong with cassel? one of the best college programs in the country saw something in him as well as one of the best nfl programs. when givin a chance he thrived. Some of the best scouts in the country like him, but the CP know it alls say no? Thiggy ain't the answer, and we can still draft a QB to give MC some future compitition. That plus he is young and has tons of room to grow. tell me why he shouldn't be a chief. also, we have tons of cash. if pioli goes and gets him for a 2nd rounder, i'd be ok with that. outside of keeping herm, i'll jump on anything pioli does for a while.

Hes not worth what we would have to give up to get him. There is a reason he couldn't start at USC. There is a reason he was a late round draft pick. The reason he is doing good with the Patriots is the talent and coaching hes surrounded by.

Some team is going to trade for him.

What are the other Qb's that have been in the same boat as Cassel, that is not start in college and end being successful in the pros.
I would say there are more instances of Qb's transferring from one school to another and then becoming the starting QB and then having success, Troy Aikman for one. |
Dude, I could take any 7th rounder, give him a good OL and two of the top receivers in a game and say go out there and look good for a year.
Cassel could be this year's Derrick Anderson. There is NO WAY IN HELL you trade your first and second rounders for him... |
Let's stick with Thiggy and bring in a good veteran qb to back him up....leftwich? There are others out there also...someone that could take the reins if Thiggy get's hurt for a couple of games.

i'll never understand those who argue with success. sure randy and welker are great, but someone still has to get em' the ball. all the quarterbacks in the world and the 11-5 pats chose cassel, yet he isn't good enough to lead the 2-14 chiefs. i won't care if we don't get him, but i understand if we do.
|
If Pioli sees him as a franchise QB to build around for the next 10 yrs then I say go get him.
|
I think Cassel would be a good FA signing , but if they franshise and want to trade him then I personally don't want him anymore.
Not sure how the franchise payments transfer in a trade, but I'm guessing he would be very overpaid, and we would have to give up something to get him on top of that. |
