Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team that was selected by Pro Football Weekly and the Professional Football Writers of America.

The team’s second-round draft choice Flowers was the 35th player selected in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played in 14 of the team’s 16 games, missing two November game with a hamstring injury.

Flowers finished the season with two interceptions, both coming against QB Brett Favre. He returned one of those 91 yards for a touchdown. The Florida native was credited with 61 tackles, forced one fumble and he recovered two fumbles.

Flowers is the fourth Chiefs player in the last three years to earn a spot on the All-Rookie team. WR Dwayne Bowe made the 2007 team, while DE Tamba Hali and S Bernard Pollard were named in 2006.

Here’s the full 2008 NFL All-Rookie team:

DEFENSE

DL - Chris Long, St. Louis; Kendall Langford, Miami; Sedrick Ellis, New Orleans; Jason Jones, Tennessee.

LB - Jerod Mayo, New England; Curtis Lofton, Atlanta; Xavier Adibi, Houston.

CB - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Arizona; Brandon Flowers, Kansas City.

S - Chris Horton, Washington; Kenny Phillips, New York Giants.

SPECIALISTS

K - Dan Carpenter, Miami.

P - Brett Kern, Denver.

PR - Clifton Smith, Tampa Bay.

KR - Leodis McKelvin, Buffalo.

The 26-member team includes 10 players taken in the first round, eight in the second and one each in the third, fourth and fifth rounds. There were two seventh-rounders on the team, including the Redskins’ Horton who was the 249th of 252 players selected in the draft. The team also included three college free agents, in Carpenter, Kern and Smith.

Same guy. He had a 2nd/3rd grade but dropped to the 5th due to character issues. He seems to have smoothly transitioned from T to G.

This is great. Having a stud CB is really going to start to pay dividends for us. Maybe one day when he is aging we can trade him off to a losing team for a 1st rd pick too.

I think its more a case of the Guard class being weak then him being good. I saw him play a couple of times this year and he was barely servicable.

Albert rarely got help in pass protect.

Jake Long needed help consistently.

I'm still a little shocked Leggett won the Mack Lee Hill award instead of him.
