Would Pioli trade for Anquan Boldin?

Wearing a lime-green shirt, Boldin tried to bolt for the stadium exit before a small group of media caught him. Someone asked if reaching the Super Bowl eases what has happened between him and the franchise. "That's not an issue," Boldin said. "Like I told you guys at the beginning of the season, my main goal was to do this. I've come through with all of my promises. I fought. I gave my heart to this organization. It's paying off." Does he want to stay in Arizona? "Next question."
Okay, I know Boldin is too close in terms of style to Bowe, BUT. He's definitely an elite, Pro Bowl talent. I mean, he came back from that crushing hit against the Jets without missing a beat. Would Pioli consider taking a chance on Boldin (the same way he took a chance on Moss) in order to have an instantly improved receiving corps? You would have Boldin at #1, Bowe at #2 and maybe a rookie speedster in the slot. Fitzgerald and Boldin are kind of similar, and somehow the Cardinals had success with those two.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't build around WRs at the expense of valuable draft picks.

And don't cite Moss. The Pats were/are loaded.

I'd lean towards no. Moss doesn't really seem like a NE-type player, but the value was insanely good for him (4th round pick). We'd certainly have to give up more than that for Boldin.

Ah, true.

I mean, if he could figure out a way to do it without doing it at the expense of other priorities, I think it would be a great move. But that would be the hard part, I guess.

Given Boldin's theatrics on the sideline yesterday, not only would Pioli never acquire him, he'd cut his ass if he were on the team. There will be zero malcontents on the team, especially at the place we are in at the talent cycle.

How about this senario

Larry Johnson and a third round pick for Boldin would be a win-win situation for both teams. Maybe both players would have a better attitude and could make significant contributions to their new team. Pioli could make it happen.

Quit posting while you still can.

What is it about wide receiver that makes it 50-50 they will be a head case?
I just don't get it.You would think cornerbacks out on a island need some of that in them.
It just seems the the worst locker room cancers always seem to be wideouts.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

You mean malcontents like Randy Moss?

Boldin's not what I would call a malcontent. Moss was a bigger pain in the ass when he was with Minnesota.

Inherent selfishness.

He hasn't been a malcontent at all with the Patriots. Additionally, Tom Brady commented that Moss was the smartest WR he has ever played with at any level.

Look, if we were good, Pioli may indeed consider bringing in some guy that doesn't perfectly fit the mold, but right now? No way.

Rice is the best all time but Like or hate moss I am hard pressed to think of any receiver that physically brings more to the table than moss.
You just knew when he was a raider he would do better ANYwhere else.

Boldin showed his true colors yesterday on the sideline, and even after he game. I'd never want that wearing a Chiefs uniform.

kstater 01-19-2009 02:15 PM

Why trade for him? Isn't he a FA this year?
