Sources: Cards Todd Haley to be next Chiefs coach

League sources told the Daily News that GM Scott Pioli has targeted Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley to replace Herman Edwards, but doesn't want to kick him out the door until Haley officially accepts the job, which can't be offered until after the Super Bowl. -- Philadelphia Daily News

Pioli, who was hired nearly 2 weeks ago, continues to let Edwards twist in the wind. He says he still hasn't made a decision on Edwards' fate, yet already has let three of Herm's assistants - defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, secondary coach David Gibbs and special-teams coach Mike Priefer - leave to take other jobs.

Pioli also seems to be as paranoid as the guy he used to work for in New England - Bill Belichick. The Kansas City Star recently sent a writer to Pioli's hometown to do a harmless Scott's-roots feature. When Pioli found out, he called former teammates, classmates and neighbors and instructed them not to speak to the reporter. Beautiful.

So we are stuck with Herm until the SB? I will die.

WTF? Then why didn't we fire Herm and interview Haley beforehand? It doesn't make any sense. This past week we were free to interview anyone in the Super Bowl. That goes for Todd Haley and Russ Grimm. We interviewed neither! Sounds like another national media type grasping at straws.

Can't wait that long. Bring on the Rat. ;)

Also it goes against what Pioli said in his presser in wanting for a head coach. He stated he wanted his head coach to be someone of experience. A vet in the head coaching ranks, not a newbie!

How do you know they didn't interview them? Since Clark started his search everything has been done in complete silence and no leaks. Pioli is the doing the same thing.

running a productive offense with all the talent his has in Arizona is NOT a big accomplishment imo.

A friend of the janitor in section 116 at Arrowhead told me that Scott Pioli's daughter told him that her daddy doesn't like candy and that Herm is a doodie head. Just reporting what I have heard about the situation.

We would have to ask for permission from either the Steelers or Cardinals to interview them. Coaches out of work you don't need permission and they can slip through the cracks unseen. It has been reported by many that the Chiefs did not interview either of the two top coordinators from the Super Bowl teams. Lastly Herm is still the HC and by league rules we couldn't interview Haley until Herm was gone.

Gee, another rumor......wow! Color me shocked even.
