Update on Remaining Coaching Staff

Not much of an update really. I hope Gailey stays and Krumrie is on the first train out of town.

Edwards’ assistants face uncertain futures in KC

The remaining members of Herm Edwards’ coaching staff were scheduled to return to the office Monday after some time off or a trip to Mobile, Ala., for Senior Bowl practices.

They’ll return to a most uncertain future now that Edwards has been fired. The coaches will take orders now from general manager Scott Pioli, who could free some or all of the assistants to look for other jobs or keep them on staff at least until Edwards’ replacement is hired.

If they are freed, some will have options. Foremost is offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, a veteran who has been head coach for the Dallas Cowboys and in college at Georgia Tech.

Tampa Bay was interested in interviewing Gailey to be its offensive coordinator. The Chiefs may be interested in retaining Gailey as their coordinator.

Others with uncertain futures in Kansas City include position coaches Tim Krumrie (defensive line), Eric Price (wide receivers), Dick Curl (quarterbacks), Curtis Modkins (running backs), Jon Embree (tight ends) and Bob Bicknell (offensive line).

Krumrie, Curl and Embree have been members of the Chiefs’ staff since Edwards was hired in 2006. Bicknell arrived a year later. Gailey, Price and Modkins joined the Chiefs last year after several offensive coaches were fired.

Three members of Edwards’ staff had scattered before Edwards was fired on Friday. Gunther Cunningham left to be defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, David Gibbs is the new defensive backs coach for the Houston Texans and Mike Priefer will coach special teams for the Denver Broncos.

Interesting. I sure hope we can lock up Dick Curl to a long term contract and quickly. He will surely by a hot commodity for his talents at coaching up QB's. :spock:

Ride that **** and Krum outta town with the quickness

I want Eric Price back if possible and wouldn't mind seeing QB coach added to his list of responsibilities.

They're all gonna be out most likely....

Gailey especially, you don't think a new HC is gonna want a OC that can you know call his offense?

If it's Cowher, I'd say you're, you know, (note the actual use of punctuation) right.:D

I don't think it's Shanahan like a lot of folks around here.

I could see Haley or Bowles.

Cowher isn't coaching this year...
