So...Petro's new lack of access is making him cranky

I can't figure it. He's completely speaking crazy-talk on 810 right now. "Dayton Moore is on the clock"?!?! Seriously? The organization from top to bottom is 100% stocked better than the condition in which Moore found it...and he's on the clock because they haven't found a solution at second base over the last 3 years? Does Petro even know baseball? This is stupidity. Not like football...when you have a minor league system, you have to take a look at overall organization. Petro is going to become more an more intolerable if this is how he's going to be with his Chiefs pipeline drying up. Anyway...END RANT.

I didn't hear everything he said. But Petro knows his stuff and preps his show very well. While I think he's too assholish to callers from time to time, I think he's one of the most informed windbags on talk radio. He's been a good student of both football and baseball.

I wouldn't debate his prep. I'm debating the sanity of saying Dayton Moore is on the clock. That's just a stupid statement. Outside of the Bloomquist signing, I've been happy with his moves.

Plus...Moore isn't on the clock in any way with the man that matters most--David Glass.

With a young kid at home, it's likely Petro isn't gettin' any. The guy has been a complete douche lately - I've essentially quit listening to him. Stopped listening to Keitmen a long time ago. Don't miss him at all.

I'm pretty sure Petro wants Dayton to go get "ODog"....kind of like the way Soren gets a Thickburger

Spot on...he's definitely been worse lately. Very bitchy. However, I think Kietz has been more tolerable lately. In contrast to Petro, he seems to RELISH a quiet Chiefs front office...

Toby...from The Office. The main character treats him terrible and reminds everyone all the time that Toby is simply terrible...horrible...the worst.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Dayton hasn't done what what fans or front office thought he would. Of course he is on the clock...any GM is on the clock from day one. It is part of the job. Get your Royal Blue glasses off and look at the rest of MLB. Dayton took over with the Royals in the class of the Pirates, and nothing has changed.

Toby Flenderson...I LOVE IT!!! ROFL

That guy is going to go postal one day!

Dude...you got the wrong guy. I wanted Herk gone in year two...and I wanted Baird gone somewhere in year 3. Further, I'm one of the guys that has been wanting Peterson gone for MANY years. If you think you're talking to "that guy", you're not. The ONLY thing I think was a royally stupid move on Moore's part was retaining Buddy Bell. Very stupid...

Look, any baseball person would tell you that the Royals organization has gone from dump to class--I'm not talking about the major league club...because the ripple effect hasn't occurred yet. However, our minor leagues are MUCH better and our scouting is light years ahead of where it was. If you don't see that...well...can't help you. When was the last time you had a one-two punch like Meche and Grienke? Got to go back to the 90's with Cone and Saberhagen. Talk to me after the season and we'll see if the ripple affect begins with the big league club.

I laugh at the Baird days.

If we had a problem somewhere on the major league club, he would just use the first-round pick on that position and say "see...we've addressed that, what's next"

DeezNutz 02-19-2009 11:08 AM

Moore's FA signings and trades justify questioning.

He seems to be doing a great in other respects, such as the minor league system and the draft.

Overall, I'm pleased and think things are progressing nicely. That said, you bet he's on the clock. All of these progressions, eventually, will need to translate to success on the field.

It seems like we're getting there. Slowly but surely.

What? DM is trying to build the team the right way. He has brought in some free agents to hold the fort while the minor league system is re-stocked. He has expanded the number of scouts and has spent more money on player development in the minors. The Royals are also signing high priced draft picks as opposed to picking players based on signability.

If things work they way they are supposed to and the way the Royals are setting things up, players will make the big league club based on achievement and there will be a player being groomed behind them. We shouldn't have as many guys come up and flame out because they weren't ready.

The big league club has improved every year and should improve again this year. The last three years the team has gone from a .383 to a .426 to a .463 winning percentage.

While you may not agree with all of the individual personnel moves he has made DM is improving the system and the team. There is no doubt that he should be held accountable for what happens on the field, but things are getting better.
