He didn't really say that about Favre. At least not in public, you know he said it to himself.

Thank God, no more of his incoherent ramblings.

Said Madden "when you retire, you don't go to work anymore, unless you just decide to keep going to work, and then you aren't retired."

asked if he planned to stage a comeback a la Farve and Jordan, Madden said "I worship the ground they walk on, so never say never, unless you really mean it then say never."

I'm getting old.

Favre: Hello

Madden: Hey Brett, it's me!!

Favre: John, is that you??

Madden: YES!! I just wanted to call and tell you that I am retiring and that I love you!

Favre: John, you know what I have to do now, right? You know the rules.

Madden: But true love has no boundries.

Favre: It does when it says to never call me and to stay a 1/2 mile away from me and my family at all times.

Madden: Ok, ok, call the cops, but remember this. I think you could play in your Wranglers on Sundays. That is how good you really are....champ!

[Phone hangs up]

Madden: Brett.....Brett? I LOVE YOU!!!!

In honesty, I would rather him do MNF rather than the soap opera they have now. Thank god Jaws came on or it would require mute.

Damn...I remember him from when he <i>coached</i>, not just from his announcing....

I know in his later years his spiel had become harder to listen to, but for better or worse, he was one of the NFL's iconic figures...

Man, these years just keep on rollin' by....

About time...10 years overdue.

That's a shame. He's actually gotten a lot better in recent years and is one of the better NFL broadcasters out there.
