anyone here good with excel or OOC?

i'm trying to make a functional spreadsheet to use for fantasy rankings / projections. i need to have some cells performing functions, but i want to be able to move rows around without having to reformat the functions. know what i mean? i can do the basics, but don't know enough to accomplish what i want.

if you have something like this and would be willing to share, attach it to your reply or pm me for my email. thanks.

Excel has a sort function under the 'data' tab. Did u try that yet?

healthpellets 04-29-2009 08:01 PM

if i highlight the column and sort, it reorders that column, which is fine, but doesn't reorder the remaining sheet based on the results of that sort. which is what i want.

Try highlighting all the columns, then perform a sort. Be sure to select 'Header Row' if u have a header, (i.e. a title for each column).

is there a way to apply a function that i've written to every cell in a column without having to paste in it each cell and change the numbers based on the row?

No problem. Glad I could help. :D

Um, I think u might be hosed. Stand by.

I would say that if the copy/paste method isn't too tedious for u, I would stick w/ that if ur in a hurry to get it done. Otherwise, when u have more time, do a search in the help library.

thanks much. enjoy your evening.

If it references the column, you should be able to copy/paste or drag it down.

If you're willing to invest a few $.

I've not tried the football version but the baseball version is great, I've been using it for 5 years.

There is a function in Excel called auto complete. When you click on a cell, there is a small black square in the lower right corner. Put your cursor on that square and drag it down the column. It should copy the formula for you and adjust the cell references for that row.

You have three options; double-click the lower right-hand corner of the cell, click and drag the lower right-hand corner down as far as you want the formula to go, or copy the cell with the formula then highlight the range of cells you want that formula to be copied in and select paste (CTRL+V). Let us know if that doesn't work.
