Big news on devin Hester

http://www.chicitysports.com/2009/08...entrate-on-wr/

Devin Hester isn't going to be returning kicks any longer (kicks) so he can concentrate on WR. How do you think that's going to turn out? He had 51 catches, 650 yards+, 3 TD's in his first season at WR with Orton. I expect him to do better with Cutler.

shoulve stopped being a reciever so he can concentrate on returning kicks instead

Actually, from a FF perspective that's interesting news. I'd have him on my team in a league that starts 3 WR's. OTOH, if your league counts D/ST touchdowns, the Bears D just dropped in value.

On NFLN thhey actually said he would still return punts though.

I think it's pretty smart on one hand. There were times last year when he looked like his heart wasn't into returning kicks. It's a good way to get the crap beat out of your body. On the other hand, from what I've read he's not too adept at learning offenses, and runs the wrong routes and stuff, so I don't know. Maybe they figure they can teach him.

I saw the Bears play a lot this past season. This was a fair statement for the first 10 games or so, but towards the end of the season Hester actually started running better routes. I don't know if it will carry over but I think he is definitely a guy that has the potential blow up in FF with Cutler's cannon of an arm delivering the ball.

That isn't big news. Daniel Manning was returning kickoffs for them last year and did a damn good job. Hester has lost a step at KR/PR.

He is better suited for the slot anyway, that shouldnt have to take away from his returns. Dante Hall did it. Why sacrifice field position?

With Cutler they finally have a guy who can get the ball to Hester down field.

The donkeys are not going to be happy with Orton when they learn how limited he is compared to Cutler.

If Hester can catch those bullet passes Cutler throws...

Orton has nowhere near the athleticism that Cutler has, and he doesn't have the arm Cutler has. But Cutler doesn't have the smarts that Orton has, the work ethic, and he doesn't have the leadership ability Orton has.

You know I think your right! He was just being a leader when he threw those INT's in the scrimmage. Trying to get the confidence of that terrible D up a little.

Please explain how a smart QB has nearly the same amount of INT's as he has TD's in his career.

Please enlighten us on one leadership quality he has portrayed since joining the NFL. Don't just make up shit that makes you feel better about your team.

For Hester personally it's a great decision, returner tend to have short careers. For the team it's going to take real commitment because returners are hard to find and they will want to go back to Hester the first time something doesn't go well.
