Annual Vehicle Registration Renewal

So, my birthday is this month. This also means I have to give the state of Ohio money to re-new my plates. ****ing ripoff. It was $49.50 last yr, and it went up $5 this yr. Bastards. How is this done in other states? I've been out of Missouri too long, I forget how its done there.

I cant remember how it is here in CO...But hey, its been almost three months ago...

Saulbadguy 10-07-2009 02:06 PM

I owe 86 bucks to renew for a 10 year old vehicle. 260 for a 4 year old vehicle.

Do you have to get your vehicle inspected every time you renew? That's the ripoff.

Hammock Parties 10-07-2009 02:08 PM

You can usually do it by mail.

I just paid $290 in Kansas for an 07 SUV.

In Nebraska, it's done with a waist-high table and a jagged stick with rusty nails and shards of glass sticking out of it.

Bearcat 10-07-2009 02:11 PM

Seriously though, it's.... pretty expensive.

WA state has cheap tabs too. You may not believe it Dave, but you're getting a bargain compared to what most everyone else pays. Ours in WA are so cheap because someone started a petition, got it on the ballot, and the people of the great state of WA said, "Meh, we'll pass the lost revenue on to smokers." Yeah, I'm bitter.

My plate renewal is around $100 - it's a bit more because I have personalized plates.

Of course, we don't have to pay that stupid yearly tax that Missouri charges.

No. Does MO. still do this? The only inspection Ohio requires is if its a salvage rebuild, and that must be done at a State Police garage.

Jesus. Remind me to never move back to Kansas!

Hammock Parties 10-07-2009 02:29 PM

Do you have an older car, Dave? That might be one reason it was cheap.

CrazyPhuD 10-07-2009 02:31 PM

Well in CA this year they doubled registration, fortunately I had to renew mine before the change and I won't be registering in CA next year.
