NFL apologizes to Page

http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1029

Safety Jarrad Page said the NFL sent the Chiefs a letter acknowledging a mistake was made when Page was penalized for unnecessary roughness in last week’s loss to the Giants.

Page broke up a pass over the middle for wide receiver Steve Smith but was penalized for making helmet to helmet contact with Smith. Replays showed Page actually used his shoulder to hit Smith in the chest.

The Giants went on to score on a touchdown pass to Smith on the next play to take a 14-3 lead. They went on to win 27-16.

The league’s acknowledgment didn’t make Page feel any better.

"It doesn’t do us any good now," he said.

Gotta love the NFL, they dont care about who the **** when they fail... They will just send a love letter to appologize!

Does he get to wipe the shit eating grin off Smith's face next time he sees him?

seaofred 10-07-2009 04:54 PM

I didn't see this coming... :banghead:

The refs are definitely earning their paychecks this year. That bs call for roughing the passer on Brady was a new low as well. IMHO they're ruining the sport.

He should get a free shot at the ref who threw the flag.

stevieray 10-07-2009 04:55 PM

those calls demoralize...

it's intersting how many times the chiefs big plays get called back, and how many times flags keep the other teams drives alive.

I have to say that it is true the demoralizing factor of these calls, but most of the calls have been accurate; especially when it has been related with our O-line penalites. :shake:

It sure does seem to work out that way quite frequently

What would you suggest they do?
I know sending a letter is lame but going back and altering the game's result isn't an option either.

We should get to take one offensive lineman from the Giants as compensation.

Do the refs get fined? They should everytime the NFL has to send out one of these letters.

Easy 6 10-07-2009 05:04 PM

Going up against teh Mighty East Coast Giants, struggling KC was bound to get the 'Washington Generals' treatment from the refs.

It'll be that way against good teams 'til we garner some respect, the refs might just come right out & announce to the crowd before the cowboys game that they're gonna job us.

'pass interference Kansas City, 1st and goal at the 1, Dallas...thats right, suck on it people'.

KCChiefsMan 10-07-2009 05:09 PM

ya, we should fine their asses. That was complete BS. There should be a replay challenge for when the refs make an OBVIOUS terrible call
