Dante Hall
How happy is he that his former team helped usurp his record? And for some salt in the wound...

Dante had to break the record against somebody
I mean come on  |
Usurp means to take something you have no right to.* He didn't usurp the record. He broke it.

Hall doesn't striike me as the jealous type. I'm sure he's happy for Cribbs.

–verb (used with object) 1. to seize and hold (a position, office, power, etc.) by force or without legal right: The pretender tried to usurp the throne. 2. to use without authority or right; employ wrongfully: The magazine usurped copyrighted material. –verb (used without object) 3. to commit forcible or illegal seizure of an office, power, etc.; encroach. Origin: 1275–1325; ME < L ūsūrpāre to take possession through use, equiv. to ūsū (abl. of ūsus use (n.)) + -rp-, reduced form of -rip-, comb. form of rapere to seize + -āre inf. ending That said, my use of the word also reflects my belief that there seems to be something inherently criminal with the Browns coming into "our house" and relieving Dante of his shared record. Good for Cribbs and a sad indictiment of the current state of affairs with our beloved Chiefs. |

Big picture, folks. It's the sad irony of it. It's not jealousy or ill will towards Cribbs. It's not that the record was broken. It's that it happened at Arrowhead against the Chiefs. Dante made his bones here and his old team allowed his record to be broken. And now Cribbs' jersey is at the HOF because of what he did at ARROWHEAD. That just seems like some bad juju to me. And I'd expect Dante to NOT feel good about it. |
