Does Charles remind anyone else of a faster Marcus Allen?
I haven't been on the board much the last couple of weeks so if the comparison has been made please forgive me. There have been numerous runs this season where he turns his shoulders, avoids the big hit and gets 5 extra yards that didn't seem to be there. His ability to avoid the big hit and find that crack in the defense reminds me of Marcus.

Has great vision for sure.

finding space in the defense, sure. but he hasn't exactly avoided the big hits this year. there have been several moments where I've wondered how he could've gotten up and gone right back into the game.

He falls forward like Marcus does and always picks up an extra yard or two.

I don't know why people are trying to compare him to anyone other than C. Johnson from Tenn.
|
He reminds me more of Joe Delaney. The explosiveness once he hits the hole. Once he gets by the line, he's gone.

Hell,Enberg and Fouts were comparing him to Barry Sanders.
Yesterday I saw him do some things I have never seen....so it is hard to compare. |
Marcus Allen was one of the most natural fluid runners Ive ever seen. Jamal Charles is not a fluid as Allen, or Joe Delaney for that matter, but is quicker and faster with very good vision. Him and Chris Johnson are very similar style runners.

Chris Johnson reminds me of Jamaal Charles.

It appears to me that the whole, "doesn't take the big hit" thing is kind of new for Charles.
I think he's learning as he gets more touches. He's running with his head up now. Earlier in the year, he didn't get his eyes up until after he was through the line. That's very good for several reasons ... not the least of which is the fact that he'll stay healthier longer. Nonetheless, he does have an Allen-like style. He has tons more speed, though. Lenny said it best ... if he's even, he's leavin'. FAX |
