Zorn joins Ravens as QB coach

The Baltimore Ravens announced on Saturday they have hired ex-Redskins coach Jim Zorn as their quarterbacks coach.

"Jim played successfully in the league for a long time, and certainly understands what an NFL quarterback goes through," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told The Baltimore Sun. "He has been an NFL quarterback coach, NFL head coach and is familiar with our offense. That's a great resume for us."

Zorn replaces Hue Jackson, who left the Ravens to join the Oakland Raiders as their offensive coordinator.

Zorn was fired by the Redskins after a 4-12 season, capped by a 23-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers in the season finale. It was the team's worst record in 15 years. Zorn was 12-20 in two seasons in Washington.

"I've gotten to know Jim the last couple of years and I'm impressed with him as a person," Harbaugh said. "He's a good, kind and decent man. He's an exciting addition to our staff."

He's back where he belongs. The guy went from QB coach to head coach because Snyder couldn't find anyone else to take the job. He may be a good O coordinator, but we won't know for a while, if ever now.

Good for him. He's not cut out to be a head coach or even an offensive coordinator. At age 56, he's a QB coach. It's extra nice for him to get the Baltimore job because he won't even have to move his family.

We should see marked improvement from Flacco next year, especially if they manage to acquire a nice WR (or two).

Nice move for the Ravens. Flacco has the physical tools but needs to play smarter.

Good get for the Ravens. Zorn is back in his comfort zone, and he will pay dividends for Flacco.
