Bradford or Clausen are there, Trading down?

In a thread over in the lounge, this was discussed.

To that I replied with the following:
Quote:

Our #5 = 1700 pts
our #50 = 400 pts
Total = 2100

Their #13 = 1150
Their # 16 = 1000
Total = 2150

Seems like a fair trade, but then who do we draft?
When looking at what teams, drafting below us, might be interested in either Clausen or Bradford, I came up with very little.
San Fran, Jax, Seattle, Buffalo & Cleveland.
San Fran & Seattle certainly have the ammunition.

St Louis & Washington are both in need, but drafting ahead of us, so I don't see any scenario of both QB's being there.

We won't draft a QB in the first either way.

So finally, what if one of them is there? Who is likely to want either one of them? Who do we draft if we trade down?

I bet we'll still field offers if just one of them falls, which WILL happen if Rams go Suh.

We'll actually get LESS offers if both of them fall, because the remaining teams will have a better chance of "their guy" falling.

If Clausen falls to us, we'll get a buffet of offers. If Bradford falls, well. Maybe the Bills?

Of course, I'd just draft Clausen.

Who would the Bills be bidding against?

I would think Seattle would be the most likely player on Bradford.

If they traded down to 13 and 16 I would be happy to see any combo of McClain, Mays, Graham or D Williams. Graham and Williams might been "reaches" at those slots but I'd rather go that route than O line.

One scenario that could unfold;

1. STL-Suh
2 DET-McCoy
3. TB-Berry
4. WAS-Okung
5. Who wants that QB and what will they pay?

A lot can change from now until April. What would be great is for a team to get infatuated with a QB, and then go all "New Orleans" and give up the farm for him. Make an offer that can't be refused

If Clausen falls to us at 5..we have to take him

I agree if their is dissension amongst the ranks, I'd definitely pull the trigger. The kid has what it takes, Clausen has a solid physical skill set, leadership intangibles, and is very accurate.

Causen in the first, wr Golden Tate in the second, and OL Sam Young in the 5th.

Yeah, because everyone is predicting him to be a slam dunk in the top four, and there will be massive amounts of teams wanting to trade up and draft him. Everyone loves an egotistical QB that achieved mediocrity in college.

Jimmy Clausen is Jay Cutler without the arm. You just keep on wanting to draft that. He'll really be good behind our kick ass offensive line too.

I'd say if Clausen and Bradford are on the board at 5, I'm not liking the chances of the Chiefs being able to move down. The Rams are starved for a QB that doesn't completely blow and it'd say a lot if they took a pass on taking one since they get top choice on any QB they desire.

Clausen is more cerebral than Cutler and won't make as many mistakes with football than Jay. IMO, Clausen will be a better version of Trent Green. In other words he'll run the system that he's been coached to play to at a very level.
