Arizona trades for S Rhodes

Arizona trades a fourth-round pick this year and a seventh next year for Jets S Kerry Rhodes.

he's worth that all day long. why the hell didn't we pay that price?

tyler360 03-06-2010 06:51 PM

He was not a right 53 guy

KCChiefsMan 03-06-2010 06:52 PM

I wonder why the Jets traded him

BossChief 03-06-2010 06:53 PM

Rex Ryan couldnt get him off his team fast enough.

That should tell you something because he runs a defense that is almost identical to ours.

But he is an upgrade over what we have. Arizona got a decent deal.

I am a JETS fan and JETS traded Rhodes:
1. He doesn't really fit well in Ryan's defense. In Ryan's defense, safeties need to tackle well, in run support. But Rhodes routinely avoids tackling.
2. He had an issue with a couple of defensive coaches. And the JETS wanted to get rid of him.
3. After 2007 season, JETS extended his contract, since then, he didn't play well as he had been. He is more concerned about modeling and being in the movies.

in my opinion, he is an above average player, but needs to play in a scheme where he roams.

I was more impressed with Jim Leonhard last year.

That said, I'd give up a second-day pick for an NFL starter any day of the week.

He's soft. Good player but soft. Rex likes physical players.

They benched him for a while last year. Don't like the way he plays.

thanks for the info

He sounds like the mirror image of our Pollard (tho good at run and bad on cover, in theory). We cut Pollard for nothing. Ryan is smart enough to get two picks.

chiefzilla1501 03-06-2010 08:22 PM

It's not a bad signing.

But when you consider that if they had the foresight to lock Rolle up earlier, they could have kept those two picks and kept about the same level of player. It's not a bad recovery move, but they still lose a little bit in the end.

No, it's not identical at all. The Jets D is good.
