Chiefs Bringing In LB Sean Weatherspoon and S Earl Thomas For Visits
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/3...ing-in-lb-sean
The Kansas City Chiefs are getting to work on their private visits in preparation for the NFL Draft in late April. We've learned the names of two first round prospects the Chiefs will be bringing to town -- Mizzou LB Sean Witherspoon and Texas S Earl Thomas. Both are being reported by Scout.com (via WtexKC) I think these two workouts are interesting because both would likely be available in the middle of the first round. Perhaps a trade down? The Chiefs are just being prepared. A little more info on each player after the jump. Sean Weatherspoon Witherspoon is a local guy so a lot of people know him. He's 6'1", 239 pounds and a lot of folks have him going to the Atlanta Falcons in the first round. I've heard him described as a better fit for a 4-3 than a 3-4. He's rated the third overall linebacker by NFL Draft Scout. The Chiefs will also have a local pro day for guys from Mizzou so I'm not sure how Weatherspoon fits into that. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli went to Mizzou's game against Nebraska in Columbia last season. I remember he talked about it on one of the local radio stations the next day and mentioned that there was a great defensive player on both sides of the field (Suh and Weatherspoon?). Earl Thomas Thomas is coming out of Texas and is 5'10", 208 pounds. He's generally the second ranked safety behind Eric Berry but interestingly Mike Mayock of NFL Network had him above Berry. He's another guy that could be available in the middle-to-end of the first round. (H/T WtexKC for the first FanShots) |

I know two UDFA candidates that the Chiefs are bringing in for private workouts, heh:
Myles Burnsides, S, Northwest Missouri State University LaRon Council, RB, Northwest Missouri State University |

Makes sense that they would bring in Weatherspoon for a workout. He's a good player and is a local kid, so he wouldn't count against the cap for the amount of players they can look at. They'd only be out of the time spent and the money to bring him in, etc. They sure aren't spending the money on the current roster, so they have plenty of cash to splurge talent searching.

Just an idea I proposed earlier:
Trade down with the Bills to 9, getting their second and sixth in the process. Take Dan Williams. Package 2b and 2c together to move back into the first and take Weatherspoon around 18. Hopefully find a safety and slot receiver in rounds 3 and 4 Just an idea: 1.9: Dan Williams 1.18: Weatherspoon 2.4: Jerry Hughes 3.5: Nate Allen 4.4: Andre Roberts 5a: Brandon Lang 5b:Harry Coleman 5c:Lonyae Miller That addresses NT, both safety spots, gives you two rush backers, a slot WR/return man, and a RB to tandem with Charles once Jones is out to pasture. Plus, Weatherspoon is your de facto defensive leader. Take a QB next year. |
