Redding to Ravens: Broncos looking at Mawae

Here's a good pickup: Ravens signed former Seahawks DL Cory Redding to a two-year deal.

Broncos express interest in Mawae <!-- p class="post-info-author">By Jason La Canfora</p -->

The Denver Broncos have expressed some interest in Pro Bowl C Kevin Mawae, according to a league source.
Denver lost center Casey Wiegmann in free agency, and though the team is looking to get younger at that position, Mawae is a possibility and there has been contact between the sides.
Mawae has the option of returning to the Titans as well, in what would likely be a depth role. Despite his age he made it through 2009 injury free and was voted to another Pro Bowl, but the interest in him has been limited to this point.

So is Redding a Seahawk or a Raven?

They dump an old center to pick up an ancient one

Chief Faithful 03-22-2010 11:27 AM

Is McD actively trying to make his team older?

Mawae is better than Weigmann....just sayin'

He made lanes for Chris Johnson. Hope Weigmann can do the same.

Someone also needs to tell Weigmann that Haley doesn't cry when you make a good play. You get eff'ed up!

No Mawae in Denver

There are various reports stating the Broncos, who desperately need a center, and veteran free-agent center Kevin Mawae have expressed mutual interest in each other.

While there are various ways to characterize “interest” an NFL source told me Maewae ain’t happening in Denver. Mawae, the president of the NFL players union, is not only 39 years old, his 289-pound frame is too light for the Broncos’ new power-type blocking system. Remember, the Broncos released Casey Wiegmann, who hasn’t missed a snap since the 2001 opener, because he was considered too small at 285 pounds.

The best center prospect in the draft is Florida’s Maurkice Pouncey, who is expected to be selected in the first round.

Why in the Hell would you want Weigeman making lanes for Chris Johnson ????

Our Defense can take care of that !

Crap I didnt even know Redding was out there. I've always liked him and wish we'd have made a run at him. He signed a 2 year deal for $6.0 mil. Would have free'd us up to trade Dorsey for some picks, namely Detroit's 2nd rounder.
