Jimmy Clausen enjoys solid Pro Day

Since we weren't at Jimmy Clausen's Pro Day, we'll defer to NFL Network's Mike Mayock opinion on the proceedings.

"I saw everything I needed to see," Mayock said. "He had a strong arm. Good accuracy. I saw what I expected to see."

Mayock mentioned that Clausen's mechanics were improved from his junior season, especially with his feet. Clausen said his healed toe has helped him with his weight transfer.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi thought Clausen had a much better workout than Brady Quinn did back in the day. SI's Tony Pauline was also in attendance, and was less impressed.

Few people seem to doubt Clausen's physical skills. Mayock also said he's getting "more comfortable" with Clausen as a person. He believes Clausen loves football, but didn't seem as sure whether Clausen is "a leader of men."

The most interesting opinion of the day from Mayock was about where Clausen will land in the draft. He sees Clausen as a "top ten talent" that won't get past San Francisco at pick No. 17.

Trade up to #14. Seattle doesn't have a 2nd round pick. Throw them both of our 2nd round picks and take Berry(#5) and Clausen(#14).

Oh it's definitely a dream. It'd be a kick ass ****ing dream though. Seattle has a lot of holes to fill....so they would make the most sense.

At some point, you'd think Buffalo would have enough common sense to know they have to draft him at 9.

That's the fulcrum for Clausen.

Except you are gambling there that Clausen falls by San Fran at #13. Could be risky. That is one reason I targeted Jax at #10 over in the draft longue.

Thats great.....so who's going to be out NT?

With this strategy...Cody and Cam Thomas would not be available for us. Unless by some holy miracle Thomas falls to the 3rd rd.

Agreed. If the T from the Bills had not of retired a month or so ago, Clausen would be a slam dunk at #9.

Bills were dumb to get rid of Jason Peters.

If out = our, I read where Crennel really liked Troup from Central Florida at the All-Star game he was coaching. Grab him in the 3rd.

Deep down, you just know, the Chiefs won't be picking him.

It's our lot in life.

Despite all the ****ing years of NEVER drafting a quarterback in the first round...when one finally just DROPS IN OUR LAPS because the Rams are just that reeruned...we'll pass...

I dont know man. I can imagine Weis really lobbying hard for him if he starts sliding. And we know he carries a lot of weight in that war room, and I dont mean just literaly. I think it's a realistic possibility.

Aside from QB, what else does SF need?
