<!-- end mod-article-title --> <!-- begin story body --> ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Bob Karmelowicz, a football coach with three-plus decades of experience, has died. He was 60.
The Detroit Lions, who employed Karmelowicz as defensive line coach last year, announced Sunday he passed away the previous day because of an illness.
Karmelowicz spent the past 18 seasons as a defensive line coach in the NFL with Detroit, the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Bengals.
He was with the Miami Hurricanes from 1989-91, helping Warren Sapp go from playing tight end to defensive tackle.
Karmelowicz is from Plainville, Conn., and played at the University of Bridgeport. He also coached at Washington State, Illinois, UNLV, Texas-El Paso, Massachusetts and Arizona State.

RIP, Bob.

As an aside, the life of a coach would be interesting with all the moves. At a minimum, he lived in Tempe, Boston (or whever UMass is), El Paso, Las Vegas, Champaign, somewhere in Washington wherever Washington State is, Miami, Cincinnati, Washington DC, Kansas City, Houston, and Detroit.

UMass. There are something like 5 campuses around the state (one is in Boston I'm pretty sure) but Amherst is the main school, and it's also the oldest one.
