Chiefs Drafts. In the interest of full disclosure.

Was a little bored so I explored my responses to past drafts we've had in real time to see how right/wrong I was.

Turns out, of course, it was a mixed bag. How was everybody elses?

Green for I liked at the time, red for disliked at the time, yellow for "eh" at the time. I left it black if I don't remember.

You liked Ty Jack when it happened?

You liked the majority of our 2009 draft? That was one of the low points in franchise history. A major setback, even though we are playing well this year. We're doing it without the help of anyone from that draft except Succop. Maybe Jackson has been decent on a few series, but no where near enough to justify the pick, and he probably never will play at that level.

I did. I think the DE is a core position in the 3-4 and he was the best DE prospect for this defense we've seen in a while.

I agree with that, now. At the time I liked most of the draft. (Although I was lukewarm, at best, about the Cassel trade.)

T. Jax was a great 3-4 end prospect. I loved Magee but I don't think I really understood the 3-4 a lot back then, because Magee was not a good fit for the 3-4 end position. I don't know why I thought he was.

Washington had the look of a diamond in the rough. Guy is a stellar athlete, but he just doesn't know where he is on the field, it seems. Lawrence and Williams were just impressive athletes from smaller schools.

But yeah... Colin Brown and trading up for O'Connell were strange moves to me.
