I love Bowe and I think he's had an excellent season overall, but I don't know if they'd ever give the MVP to a guy who played an entire game without registering on the stat sheet.

I would point out that Bowe had another excellent day as a blocker, but I would definitely agree with this statement, and also, he has dropped one too many game winning catches to secure my vote.

Yeah if Bowe was that elite, he would've stepped up a bit more than 0 f'ing catches last week. I know Champ is Champ, but he's aging, and come on...can you get at least one freaking catch? Where's the competitive nature?

They seem to be lowering their standards.

bowe has put up some serious numbers, but NFL MVP goes to QB's or RB's always has always will. now the SB MVP is more of a toss up

the only other position other than QB or RB to win the MVP recently was a WR in 1987 by the name of Jerry Rice, supposedly the best NFL player ever. . . .

He doesn't throw the ball, too. He was only targeted a couple times, and those throws were iffy as well.

Should he have worked harder to get open? Maybe, but they don't show that on every play on TV.

Yeah Cassel did say before the game that they were staying away from Champ, no matter who was going against him, even Bowe.

I think the MVP this season is "fired head coach".

milkman 12-10-2010 10:22 AM

Even with the outstanding season that Bowe is having, overall, I don't think he's even the Chiefs MVP.

That has to be Charles.

Chiefnj2 12-10-2010 10:31 AM

The last time a non-qb or non-rb won the award was 1987 with Lawrence Taylor.

In 1987 it was Jerry Rice, Taylor won it in 1986.

Bowe's had a great mid-season run, but if we're in crazyland and considering a Chief for NFL MVP, you'd have to look at Cassel and Charles first.

Valiant 12-10-2010 06:19 PM

For a WR to get it he would have to have like 120+ catches 1600+ yards 20+ tds and be a hellacious blocker in the running game and do that in double coverage..
