Help me get out of the stone age

I'm looking to get an XBox 360 (I know. Half a decade late.).

I don't game online. Just some FPS stuff. I gotta a buddy that we get together and shoot the shit out of each other. He's got a 360, and I just have the old XBox. There are a few games that I want to pick up for 360 and to play during the winter.

What's the cheapest way to get into a 360 and a few controllers?

Is EBay an option? That's where I bought mine, but I haven't been on Ebay in 4 years.

For your purposes? No.

You will appreciate having a new one with warranty. Old boxes are prone to RRoD issues. Nothing you want to have to deal with as a new user.

"Refurbished" units from Game Stop or the like are not any better.

Cool. Thanks.

Do I need to be looking at a 4GB job or will that not be enough for light use?

Amazon has Xbox 360 4GB Console w/ Kinect + $100 Amazon Credit for $300.

If you don't want a Kinect you can sell it and get a new Xbox for $100-150

So you're saying I could sell the kinect for 50-100. Use the amazon bucks for 100 and be left with a 100-150 xbox right?

Just want to make sure I follow the logic.

I think I will have a hard time selling the kinect out here. And I don't do much business with Amazon.

But that appears to be the best deal so far.

I haven't paid attention, what games use kinect and is the system worth a shit?

Any chance I'll be able to get one cheap on cyber Monday?

That is what I was going for it should be easy to get $70+ for a new kinect since that is what used ones are going for on Ebay, but if you don't use Amazon for much and don't know if you could sell the kinect the Target deal is better (if you have one) where you pay $200 and get a $50 gc.

Right now there's not much that would interest your average adult on the kinect, but I'm still holding out hope that the games for kinect get better. Hopefully by the time there are good games for it, they are pretty cheap.

They seem great for kids, workout games, and party entertainment though.
