Report: Patriots, Chiefs Seek Permission to Speak with Josh McDaniels
Found 6 hours ago on Pro Football Zone: PLAYERS: Josh Mcdaniels, Romeo Crennel TEAMS: New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, Penn State Nittany Lions According to Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, both the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs have requested permission from the Rams to speak with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. With the reports out now that Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is likely headed to Penn State, they’ll need a replacement and McDaniels is of course familiar with the way the Pats run things from when he was there just a few years ago. When it comes to the Chiefs, if they end up promoting interim head coach Romeo Crennel to become their new head coach, McDaniels would be a good fit since they worked together in New England. At this point there’s been no indication if the Rams have actually granted either team permission to speak with McDaniels. Right now, McDaniels will just have to wait around to see who becomes the Rams next head coach, because that will likely decide his destiny in St. Louis http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articl...aniels/9163303 |
So goddamn tired of this team revolving around the ****ing Patriots...

If the Patriots are wanting to talk to why he come here? I don't want him here.

Everybody's overreacting. We just want to ask him, "Tebow, really?"

The Patriots offense has completely shifted away from McDaniels style of offense. I heard they want to promote Ferentz's son to OC and that would make a ton of sense considering the work he's done with Gronk and Hernandez.

For ****s sake. This just ruined my day.

Not really. Offenses are constantly evolving to take advantage of the players that it has. In the early 2000s, without elite WRs and a QB who was very accurate but didn't have a great deep touch, the offense was largely screens, shorter passes and power running (Antowain Smith / Corey Dillon). As the WRs got better (Moss/Welker), they became the focus of the offense. Now with elite TEs, the seams have become more important. But fundamentally (conceptually) it's the same offense. It's not like the Pats are running the West Coast offense or whatever. McDaniels is perfectly familiar with the entire system and can easily update himself on how the offense has evolved since then. Imagine the Rams want a pick for him, and may likely squeeze a 5th rounder or something out of someone. If the Chiefs get him as OC, it would seem to be very likely that is with RAC as HC. Hard to believe Pioli would get the OC before settling on the HC. |
Fired in Denver, 31st ranked offense in St Louis. Why not bring him in for a look? (note sarcasm)
F u Scott Pioli. Do you job. Hire the best candidates available. Not just your buddies. |
