Very cool. Did Native Americans really use to be, well, that dark-skinned or is that the sepia-tint?
|
Most if not all of the tribes pictured, lived where the sun really beats down much of the year.

Those are pretty awesome.
|
Those are cool, but why did we have to go to a site from the UK to get them?

I am familiar with the areas shot around lake tahoe/pyramid lake. I have whitewater rafted the truckee river several times, hunted/fished all through the area. folklore has it the truckee river connects the two lakes on the earth's surface while an underground thermally active river connects the two lakes under ground. a very large thermal electric plant is nearby also.
it is said a fishing boat that sank in pyramid lake long ago was found in pieces at the bottom of lake tahoe. there are areas of tahoe that are bottomless according to researchers. both lakes are massive. lake tahoe is the largest lake in the world, above 6k feet. mount rose sometimes hosts a year round glacier. and of course, this is the area the donner party enjoyed eachother for dinner. literally. |
I strive to find places where it looked like it did 150 years ago. It is damn near impossible, even in SW Kansas.

if you were to go to the northwest side of pyramid lake today, it will look exactly like the pics of the pyramid isle in the lake. that lake is very dangerous also. many rogue waves on that lake have capsized craft drowning many ppl every year.
