Uneasy Rider - Share Your Storm Stories
I have a foot of snow on the roof of my minivan. As I slow down for a red light, a large chunk of it slides forward and completely covers my windshield. My visibility drops to zero so I slam the breaks hard. Coffee spills into the AC converter that I need to power vital electonics like cell phones and such. The adapter emits that dreaded sound and smell as it burns up.
I tell myself not to use wipers but do it anyway. The driver's side wiper flings off into the street. I open the door and as I reach for it a truck rolls by crushing the wiper and splashing me with black ice. "This day just keeps getting worse" I think to myself. I exit the van and wipe the snow with my arm. Luckily I am near a large parking lot so I go there and get the rest of the snow off the roof and windshield. I drive to a nearby Jiffy Lube to get it fixed. Their computers are offline and they can't do business. Why did I not assume this was going to be the case? I tell the guy to fix it, fill out the paperwork, and charge my account after his network returns. He agrees and fixes it. I sign the paperwork and drive off to face the rest of the day. I still had the receipt for the adapter so Wal-Mart exchanged it for another one. My lucky day I guess. |
