Ladies and gentleman, the most active team in the NFL in free agency in 2013.
 

So far, anyway.

• We traded a 2nd this year and a future midrounder for QB Alex Smith.
• We re-signed our stud WR in Dwayne Bowe for $56m/5 years ($26m guaranteed).
• We re-signed our stud P in Dustin Colquitt for $18m/5 years ($9m guaranteed).
• We retained LT Branden Albert with a franchise tag.
• We shaved $10m off DE Tyson Jackson's cap hit.
• We released Winston, Breaston, and Boss.
• We beefed up our secondary with Dunta Robinson, Husain Abdullah, and Sean Smith.
• We beefed up with receiver corps with Anthony Fasano, Donnie Avery and Mardy Gilyard.
• We replaced Glenn Dorsey almost exactly with Mike DeVito.
• We beat out a handful other teams in grabbing backup QB Chase Daniel.
• We also retained Bryan Mattison, and brought in Marcus Dixon and Kevin Brock.

All indications are that we are not done, either. We've brought in Geoffrey Schwartz today. We have LB and safeties in our sights. We're looking to trade down from the #1 overall pick.

What are your thoughts, folks? Do we like the new superactive Chiefs?

I'm really liking it. If they can just Draft Geno this april.......

Makes me wonder what they do in the draft after the 1st round?

DO they just keep building the lines? Draft another RB? Is Hillis still on this team?

I want to see wins and playoff wins. Otherwise I don't care.

Hillis is no longer a Chief.

Hopefully they just draft the best talent they can get their hands on.

because they have been so active in FA, there wont be many starters coming from the draft....outside of Joeckel or Fisher. : )

I love the change. In recent years we have never been active. No we didn't get Wallace or any of the top FA but we also didn't burn tens of millions on free agency, beefed up the roster, and we still have #1 pick next month. I have hope.

Love a lot of the signings and the fact that the team is so active in free agency. Love the fact that the new regime kept good players that have been drafted and developed by KC.


However, the Alex Smith trade is like a wet blanket over all of this for me. Right now I just can't get excited for the next season given the team's track record with the QB position.

Hillis isn't on the team and I hope they don't draft another RB unless it's rds 6 or 7.

I think Cyrus Gray can be a nice player and Shaun Draughn is ok. Regardless, you can find RB talent VERY late in the draft or as UDFA such as Spencer Ware, Ray Graham, Knile Davis, Zac Stacy, Theo Riddick, Chris Thompson, Washaun Ealey.

I have to believe we are a much better football team today than when the season ended.

This is exactly what I've been saying. Whoever they draft in the first won't have to start this year. So, that basically takes the "risks" away from draft BPA; no matter the position.

I'm excite.... but I know this feeling..

I am excited and like what the team is doing, but again, I was excited when we got Pioli, Hailey, and Cassel...so my excitement isn't a good measuring stick.
