Several reported tornadoes pound Oklahoma, Arkansas

Severe storms spawned a dozen reported tornadoes in Oklahoma and Arkansas on Thursday, according to Reuters .

The storms sent residents scrambling for cover 10 days after a powerful twister killed 24 people in Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service confirmed at least one tornado touched down in the Tulsa area, the Associated Press reported.

The tornado on Thursday night touched down in the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow. It's not clear how much damage the storm caused as it moved through.

Earlier in the day, tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and Arkansas, injuring at least nine people.

In Cushing, Okla., a critical hub for the U.S. oil markets northeast of Oklahoma City, a heavy storm passed through without damaging tanks that store more than 50 million barrels of oil, said Bob Noltensmeyer, Cushing's emergency management director. Stormwatchers told CNN that they observed a small tornado touching down briefly in Cushing and the nearby city of Perkins.

A second tornado with the same storm was reported near the rural town of Ripley, but didn't seem to cause significant damage, the Associated Press reported.

And about 3,500 people were without power in Texas' Dallas County after the area was hit by storms that were accompanied by 70 mph winds, UPI reported.
The storms that hit North Texas Wednesday evening brought down power lines and trees, and blew away sections of a new Hurricane Harbor water ride in Arlington, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Quarter-sized hail was also reported in Dallas and Denton counties.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The National Weather Service confirms at least one tornado has touched down in a Tulsa suburb.

Meteorologist Pete Snyder says the tornado touched down in Broken Arrow about 8:40 p.m. Thursday and caused "considerable" damage.

Snyder said he had not heard of any injuries or fatalities.

A woman who answered the phone at the Broken Arrow Police Department also confirmed a tornado and said the department had "no response at this time."
Earlier in the day, tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and Arkansas, injuring at least nine people.

Mother Nature does NOT seem to care for Oklahoma.

I was in Purcell earlier today and took pics that look exactly like that. Ended up turning around illegally on the interstate and backtracking 3 miles because I thought that thing was gonna touch down next to the highway. Then 30 minutes later drove through the area in Moore where the big one touched down last week. Scary stuff.

My wife's nephew lives in same1/4 mile as damage reported. Waiting to hear if he has damage.

Thankfully no reports of injuries &I I know he & his wife put a storm shelter right out their back door.

That's ****ing dumb dude.... It doesn't even have the truck attached.... It's useless without the extra weight of the truck....

That frickin thing touched down about 3 miles east of my house. I was watching the news and it showed the thing right on top of us. I went outside and nearly shit myself. I had no idea. It was dead silent with no rain or anything. THe sirens didn't go off until after the thing touched down. From what I heard, the tornado path didn't go through any cities or towns.
