What's up all you KC snobs!!!

America's Snobbiest Cities
14 (tie) Kansas City, MO
The city’s trio of big museums and the Kauffman Center—home to the city’s symphony, ballet, and opera—are proof that this city cares about more than just its famed barbecue. And while such cultural attractions are indeed state of the art, they remain accessible; Kansas City won the survey for affordability.
What's funny is that KC beat out Austin (19). Having spent considerable portions of my life in both.. this study is completely off base. Don't get me wrong, I love Austin but people here are EXTREMELY proud of the town, to a point that is annoying as hell. KC on the other hand has never come across as a "snobby" city even though it has plenty more reasons to be.

[the biggest surprise was Minneapolis at #4.. WTF? I can't imagine anyone in Minny being proud of well, anything.]

It's a weird list. Their criteria seems to be which cities have the most "high culture" attractions that are also widely available. Doesn't sound like snobbery to me. Their descriptions read like praise for the most part, but I think they just threw the snobby thing on there to draw internet traffic.

I've been to Austin -- there is nothing in that town to be snobby about :)

I don't think the article writers understand what snobby is

I just knew before I looked that San Francisco would be number one.

Agreed.

The success of our professional sports teams has made us feel superior to the rest of the country and insufferable to others.

Apparently you don't like women... or bars. There is the live music as well but that shit annoys me so I don't count it.

No doubt.

Minneapolis has a pretty good music scene but I don't know how that is enough to push them up to number 4.

It’s all the smug emanating from there.

Spent a week in Austin a couple years ago. I can't believe that's supposed to be the nice part of Texas.

Deberg_1990 07-02-2013 03:56 PM

Did they mean KC or Overland Park?
