ST. LOUIS — A 15-year-old St. Louis girl is dead in an apparent accidental shooting — her mentally-challenged brother thought he was playing with a toy gun.

Police say the family recently moved into a home and the 20-year-old brother found a shotgun that had been spray-painted gold behind a dresser. A family friend had left it there.

Police say he didn't realize the gun was real when it went off, killing his sister, Alicia Anderson.

The brother is in custody but prosecutors have not decided whether to file charges.

Police say Alicia died of a wound to the head.

that was real nice of the family friend to leave a loaded shotgun at the house where a mental midget lives.

Man if the majority of homicides are committed by african-americans(on other african-americans). Isn't the simple gun control solution to make it a felony for any african-american to possess a gun? Afterall that would solve the problem of all homicide by african-americans right????(and the negligent discharge in this case).

Or they were hoping that he would accidentally shoot himself instead. As much as I wish that notion were completely ludicrous, given the world we live in I'm not sure I can say that....:shake:

I find myself having a hard time giving much of a **** about stories like this anymore. Parents should be prosecuted for manslaughter though.
