Deck experts - Vinyl Covers for support posts
My composite deck is finally getting done and I'm struggling to decide what to do about covering the support posts and the face so I have a clean white look all around the deck.
My support posts are 8 feet by 6 and I'm trying to figure out how to cover them. I'd like to use a vinyl cover, but since the posts are already up and secure, I'm imaging that will be challenging. Anyone have any solutions they've done/heard of? Here's a pic of the progress so far. http://i44.tinypic.com/in984o.jpg |
How about a pic of the area you're talking about in the OP? Our deck's supporting structure is all cedar, so it looks good with the composite material. If you cover the supporting structure, wouldn't that make it harder for moisture to escape? As far as the face, if that's what I think you mean, ours is covered with the decking material.
I'm not an expert though, my apologies for breaking the thread rules. |
Not home right now to take a pic.
Expert was a very loose term. |
Call a siding guy and have him wrap it.

Typically, those sleeves are one piece. So all you have to do is remove your deck temporarily, slide the sleeves over the support posts, and put the deck back..
