Thanksgiving - when do you do it?
Important issue--
Since I was a kid, my family has always had a Thanksgiving DINNER, as it should be. But most people I know think we're freaks. And also that we aren't doing Thanksgiving correctly--that it should be at lunch, which I think is crazy and should be banned. When do you eat your "Thanksgiving meal?" |
Sometime during the Lions game,or lunch as you call it,then again during the Cowboys game and now with Thursday night football...
|
4:00 which I don't consider lunch or dinner. It's happy hour.
lol. I guess that's fitting. |
Somewhere in the middle of the two. Sleep in, have a BlueBerry Pancake and Bacon Brunch then have lunch sometime in the afternoon.
|
1:00, same as X-mas.
Not a dinner or lunch thing. A eat up so we can lounge around and watch football [or play with new toys @ X-mas/both] thing. |
You are crazy.
First serving around 1:00 with leftovers reheated around 5:00-6:00. |
We usually have lots of friends and family that congregate in our house for the holidays so we like the dinner time. It gives those drunken bums time to wake up.

A few years ago my wife and I looked at each other and said, "Thanksgiving sucks."
So we stopped celebrating. Now we just take off and go travel instead. My family's surprisingly really cool about it. We just pick an American city we haven't been to and go explore. On Thanksgiving we usually find one excellent restaurant and go to town. August - New Orleans Husk - Charleston Old Pink House - Savannah Rasika - Washington DC This year we're doing San Diego. There's a Mexican place right on the border that does the traditional lamb roasted in a pit. We're doing that. |
Depends
When I lived in KC, I had one side of the family that would have Thanksgiving at 1 and the other side would have it around 5. Same thing for Xmas |

Sometimes it ends up being 1:30, sometimes 2:30, but never really outside of those. |

My family used to always do lunch. This year I got them to stretch it to 3 oclock.

Thanksgiving is at 12 Noon in Frankfort, KS. Frankfort is a little town about 30 miles Northeast of Manhattan, KS on Kansas Highway 99, and just a little south of US 36. Big family gathering, I've had thanksgiving on a paper plate on the front seat of my car many times because there's too many folks to fit in the house. It's OK though, it makes my wife happy to see her extended family, and they always treat me nice.
