SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 3
 

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up the directions to find three randomly selected scenes in this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...php?p=10272067

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it in the original nomination thread (NOT the voting thread), and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

I have to go with:

#1 - Inglorious Basterds. That's a powerful scene.

#2 - Up Love Story. It started out slow, but I really liked it. I have a hard time with people dying in cartoons, though. They should just get hit by an anvil and recover quickly.

#3 - Goodwill Hunting. It was finely acted, but I thought it was unrealistic. Do your friends really say stuff like that to you? Mine never did.

It's Good Will Hunting, not Goodwill. It's because Matt Damon's character's name is Will Hunting.

My vote goes for Up.

Huh. I'll take note of that.

Anyone not voting for UP is just so ****ing wrong.

Very close between Inglourious and Up here for me. Loved both scenes.

Inglourious Basterds - horrific scene but amazing acting.

The main character in "Up" looks very similar to my Grand Dad, (he was in England, hence the title "Grand Dad"). He and my Nanny (Grand Ma) died within the same week. Soon after, I took my daughter to see this movie. I nearly cried. Thanks goodness for those 3-D glasses.

Nearly? I cried like a little girl in that movie.

The scene in Up is heart wrenching and very moving. It really pulls you into the story of that old man. However the scene from Inglorious Basterds is so well scripted, the dialogue is so precise, the performance so nearly perfect, I get chills watching it and sometimes replay the whole thing a second time anytime I watch the movie.

Inglorious Basterds moves on, proving that Nazis trump love stories.
