SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 4

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to show three randomly selected scenes that were nominated in this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...php?p=10272067

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it in this thread and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

I'm not sure if this is it or not, but I think it is.

Apologies for the low-quality video, but the scene is there.

My votes:

1. I'll admit that I proposed the Raising Arizona scene. I think it's hilarious, and I like the ending. Parts of it are up and down, but the high points are really high.

2. The Empire Strikes Back. It's an iconic scene. I could have gone either way between this and Raising Arizona.

3. Rio Bravo. I don't really understand what happened. If John Wayne was a good guy, it looks like the good guys double-crossed the bad guys.

Empire. I remember as a kid sitting in the theater and hearing the gasps as Vader dropped that bomb on Luke.

"I'll be taking these Huggies, and whatever cash you got"

Love that movie

Also great in Raising Arizona is the fight scene in the trailer.

Raising Arizona is a cornucopia of great scenes and great lines.

Obviously Empire. How many other movies have YouTube videos of parents taking video of their kids when a moment is revealed?

Plus the way it was filmed with "Obi-Wan killed you Father" as the line and then James Earl Jones changing it in post production so nobody but 4 people in the whole world knew the real line is something that would never happen now.

The answer is obviously Empire.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_Strikes_Back

"During production, great secrecy surrounded the fact that Darth Vader was Luke's father. The film includes a brief image of Vader with his mask off, facing away from the camera. For the original viewers of the film, this scene made it clear that Vader is not a droid. Like the rest of the crew, Prowse—who spoke all of Vader's lines during filming—was given a false page that contained dialogue with the revelatory line being "Obi-Wan killed your father." Hamill did not learn of the plot point until just before the scene was filmed, astounding the actor; Kershner advised him to ignore Prowse's dialogue and "use your own rhythm". Until the film premiered, only Lucas, Kershner, Hamill, and James Earl Jones knew what would really be said; Jones' initial reaction to the line was, "He's lying!"

The Empire Strikes Back crushes its competitors like they're baby ewoks and moves on.
