SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 31

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread.

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

This is a tough one. My votes:

#1 - Stripes. The Q&A is pretty fun.

#2 - Silence of the Lambs. This is a very engaging scene, and I could see it winning over Stripes. I was 50/50 and only because I'm a comedy fan.

#3 - Terminator. I really liked this movie at the theater, but kind of lost interest in it later.

Oh this is a tough one I'm a gonna have to ponder on this one before I vote.

Stripes was good, but not in the same league as the other two.

BlackHelicopters 01-19-2014 07:18 PM

Silence of the Lambs, no contest.

Its a tough heat indeed, but my goodness lets get some Bill Murray love going on up in this bitch... the man is a SAINT, he could fart while reading the phone book and it would somehow be hilarious.

I wonder if the Groundhog Day sequence of deaths made the tournament...

There are two groundhog day scenes, Ned the insurance guy and Bill telling Andie about his situation. No sequence of deaths, unfortunately.

Gotta go with Silence of the Lambs. Hannibal Lector is one of the all-time great characters and bad guys.

Terminator is great, but that clip isn't all that spectacular.

SotL finds it's groove in the defacing of the security guard.

'We're willing to learn' is an all time great movie line, All, . . TIME!!

As is the look between Ramis and Murray in the word 'convicted.' Well, not a line, but an all time cinema 'moment.'

And FTR, abandoning their car was every bit as funny as ending their relationship with the Blues mobile in The Blue Brothers. Even with a Cop motor, 442 cubic inch plant, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks.

Ironically enough, that look is the screenshot for the embed [at least as I see it], as a viewer, I see that moment as Murray looking over and saying 'how funny is this ****er, really.' And then Ramis delivered him his elegy in Groundhog Day.

In an ultimate irony, Warren Oates starred as Sgt Hulka in 1981, died in 1982, and starred in TV's 'Tales of the Unexpected' in 1985.

I went with Silence of the Lambs because I read the book and the book had great details of things going on so it was really good book.

Rain Man 01-21-2014 09:49 PM

Can you are the voters screaming, Clarice? Silence of the Lambs moves on.

Deberg_1990 01-21-2014 10:03 PM

Silence of the Lambs out of these 3. Not even Stripes most iconic scene. That would be the "Aaarmy Training Sir" scene.

That one's in the tourney, and I'll be interested to see how it does. Love that scene.
