Why is noone talking about...

Pick the player you think nobody is talking about, but should be. Feel free to comment.

My pick is definitely Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas.

For a guy that put up measurables that compare to Clay Matthews, he sure isn't getting much recognition. He continued to grow as a player and put up 82 tackles, 19 for a loss, and 13 sacks in 2013 as a defensive end. At 6'3" 247, he projects well as an OLB in a 3-4. While he does need to gain strength, his sub-7 second 3-cone makes me believe he can stick with TEs in space and we already know he can get after the QB. We also know his football pedigree, with his dad Jim being a standout with Dallas. With his draft stock hovering around the 3rd round right now, he could end up a steal.

Manny Lawson V2?

I'd love to pick up Dennard in the 1st and Jeffcoat in the 3rd

Jeffcoat is an excellent selection. Good topic, and good OP.

My votes would be for two players that really leap out to me as excellent, potential 1st round talents: DE/OLB Chris Smith from Arkansas, and WR Martavis Bryant of Clemson.

If Bryant doesn't have to be buried beneathe the depth chart behind Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins, he's a borderline 1st rounder. Smith, on the other hand, has been super impressive this Draft season. I think he's at least as good a prospect at OLB as Dee Ford. Ford's probably got him on lightning, corner-bending speed. But Smith is a damn good passrusher, and far more powerful and rounded.

Good suggestion with Bryant. I really like him in the 3rd round. I don't think he'll fall any further than that and a team could take a shot much earlier. He has size, speed, and catches the ball well. I agree about the overshadowing.

I think he's a 2nd rounder. 1st rounder in some draft classes. If he falls to us in the 3rd, he will be at the top of my board. But I just don't see it happening.

Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech

He was a beast of a DE at Tech. He's their all time leader in sacks. He has a serious motor and reminds me of a cross between Hali and James Harrison. He's from Nigeria and has Harrison's intensity. I am sure he will transition to a 3-4 OLB easily. If we had a 2nd, I'd be looking hard at him.

Shane Skov, LB; Stanford

- While Skov was the undisputed leader of the #5 ranked Cardinals defense, he seems to be the forgotten man.

After being a highly recruited HS All-American, Skov had a productive freshman year followed by an excellent sophomore season which saw him get 6.5 sacks, 10.5 tfl, and 84 tackles. Great things were expected and first round draft status was virtually assured. However, three games into his junior season, his knee was blown out, breaking his leg and snapping both the ACL and MCL. After rehab, he came back in 2012 with another solid campaign (81 tackles, 2.5 sacks), but people still couldn't forget about the leg injury labeling him "slower, not as aggressive, etc."

In 2013, any signs of the injury were in the past as Skov put together his best year as a collegian, amassing 109 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss while leading the Cardinals to an 11-3 record and a #11 ranking.

Skov has excellent functional strength, a unique ability to knife through offensive lines on blitzes and high level instincts. There is no reason why he shouldn't be in the conversation as the first ILB taken in the draft, but he's being overshadowed by numerous other prospects as well as by his own teammates such as David Yankey and Trent Murphy. However, if you've watched any of Stanford's games this past season, it was Skov who was getting the lion's share of attention by blockers with offensive coordinators putting dedicated OL guys on him throughout most of the games.

Projects as a solid 34 or 43 MLB.

Skov is a really good one. People thought he would come out last year and there was a buzz about that. This year he's forgotten. It's pretty weird.

There's a reason why Bryant never saw much playing time despite his physical skill-set. He has a bunch of effort, character, and learning ability red flags on him. I forgot where I read it but apparently the reason why he was never featured strongly before in that offense was because he was lazy and didn't put in the work to become a starter at Clemson. He didn't flip the switch and decide to dedicate himself until this last year after being left home for their 2013 bowl game due to failure at meeting academic requirements. He already has 2 kids from 2 different women. Etc, etc.

I would take Moncrief over him at this point.
