Who has been to Pittsburg/Heinz Field?
I just purchased some tickets for week 1 Browns @ Steelers home opener for my Dads 50th birthday in September. What are some places we should visit. I'm hearing Quaker Steak and Lube is a great sports bar (which is what we're looking for). Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks CP.
I'll make sure to throw a gum wrapper at Haley. |
Primanti brothers. /endthread

I lived in Pittsburgh for about seven years, but my family moved away in 1998 (three years before the field was opened). The only memories I have of Pittsburgh football/baseball were in the now-demolished Three Rivers Stadium.

Pittsburgh sounds like a shithole |
The incline across the river is fun. Primanti Bros is worth going to, but is overrated.
There's a lot of cool stuff right around the stadium, I've heard it's a fun place to watch a game. |
We have a Primanti brothers on the beach down here.
Great drunk beach food. Otherwise, very meh. |

Looks like no one has been to Heinz Field Inmem58 you'll have to tell us the scoop when you get back in September.
Division rival games are hard fought should be a good experience. |

Make sure you take the ferry from town to the stadium. Fun, drunken party boat. We were actually at the Hooters in the plaza when I went for a Chiefs game - we got destroyed. That's where I met Casey Wigmann's wife.
Nice stadium. Too bad the Pirates are away at that time. Could have made for a great sport-o weekend. |

I've been to Pittsburgh frequently these past two years to watch the Pirates play.
Quaker State and Lube blows-it's another run of the mill sports bar with less than average food. Don't waste your time. Go up to Mt Washington to take pictures. Beautiful view. Eat breakfast at Pamela's-it is great and was recommended to me by at least 3 other CP'ers when I asked about what to do in Pitssburgh. I'm not even a breakfast fan but I had the bananas and walnut pancakes and they knocked my socks off! Lastly, for dinner eat at Meat and Potatoes. It is a great restaurant downtown in the theater district and one of the best in town. I've eaten there every time in town. As far as Primanti Brothers goes, I'm not a fan as it is just average at best. All tradition, just like the shitty cheese steaks at Pat's or Geno's in Philly. They all suck but you probably want to brag to everyone that you have eaten there. Have fun, it's a cool small city. |
I went to a Cards-Pirates game on my 21st at PNC. Go to Hi-Tops. Hot waitresses and a big bar/dance area. Saw a lot of players there.
And apparently it shut down in 2007. ****, I'm old. |
