I am blessed to announce that the Seattle Seahawks and I have reached an agreement on a contract extension. The goal has always been to stay in Seattle and continue to play for the Seahawks. With this chapter closed, I can continue to focus on what is important – defending our Super Bowl Championship and being the best cornerback in the NFL.

This is a great moment for my family, foundations and the people who supported me to this point. Hard work and execution got me to this moment, the Seattle Seahawks have backed up that respect with this contract. The terms of my deal are 4 years for a total of $57.4M with $40M guaranteed. There is no other city or team that I would want to play football for.

Greatness is realized from countless hours of work, studying, practice, sacrifice and courage. This is just the beginning and I will continue to set the bar higher and higher on and off the field.

Much appreciation to the Seattle Seahawks franchise, the coaches, teammates, friends, the fans, my family and the 12s. The support does not go unnoticed and I carry that into each snap. From Compton to Stanford, 5th round draft pick to winning the Super Bowl – dare to be great.

You get out what you put in!

Seahawks give Sherman new deal

Wonder what the numbers look like..

EDIT: Never mind. Guess I should pay attention next time..

That's $97 million dollars for Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman.

You have to imagine Chancellor will be the odd man out in that secondary. I don't know much about their cap situation but he's probably worth about the same as Whitner. $30+ mill for 3 guys in the secondary is a steep price..

Shoulda cut them. All you need is a great pass rush.

Yeah. It's hard to imagine that they're going to pay 3 guys in the secondary big coin.

Chancellor got his new deal last year.

They still have to sign Wilson though.

They can get away with this because their QB makes no money, they can move on from Marshawn Lynch with RB's being a dime a dozen.

Other than Percy Harvin and these secondary deals who on that team makes a lot of money?

That's also really smart to structure all of them to where they'll get their best years then walk away.

This.

It will be interesting to see what Carroll does with Wilson when his rookie deal is up. Do they franchise him while they look for his replacement? Or do they let him test FA and see what he commands.

They'll franchise him. That's assuming, of course, that Wilson doesn't light it up next year only to decide that his third round rookie deal just isn't cutting it anymore and holds out for a more appropriate deal.
