SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 159
 

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread.

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

My vote in a close heat:

#1 - Peewee's Big Adventure. Coming into the heat, I assumed that I would vote for Animal House. But the Peewee scene has more energy and more yuks. It's a top-notch scene.

#2 - Animal House. It has an all-time great movie line in it, to be sure. But the rest of the scene is pretty pedestrian.

#3 - Bridesmaids. It's a fine scene, but it's not competitive in a heat like this.

Animal House should take this hands down.

Y'know, that was my original thinking, but when I watched the scenes with a completely neutral eye, I concluded that Animal House has a classic line, but the scene as a whole doesn't stand up to Peewee.

Tough heat, but give me the most memorable line from Animal House.

They played that Animal House clip during a Chiefs Broncos game at Arrowhead when Dick Vermeil was coach. We were down in the fourth quarter and then not long after they played that clip Dante Hall busted a punt return for a game winning touchdown. Talk about inspiration. So go vote for Pee Wee Rain Man if you want I choose to vote for beating the German Broncos.

Oh, man. I did not know that. I wouldn't have even started this tournament if I had known that.
