In with Aliens!

Rain Man 06-09-2014 06:22 PM

All of these scenes are flawed, but one shall pass. My votes:

#1 - Aliens. It would be better if there was any recognition at all of physics in the last half of the scene, and if there was any lighting at all in the first half, but it's still the best scene in this heat.

#2 - Excalibur. I can't hear half the dialogue, but I like the armor and the music, so that's good for a #2 spot. Does anyone know the song? I feel like I should know it, and I like it. And in the real world, they shouldn't be riding horses cross-country with full armor.

#3 - Liar Liar. I understand why he's behaving the opposite of human nature, but that doesn't justify why everyone else in the room is. This scene is a dud for me.

Liar Liar was kind of funny but kind of won't cut it in this heat. Aliens it is.

Aliens

Okay, Aliens blows away its competitors and moves on.

Aliens - I can't see a thing of action. Dark blue cast, interminable cuts of closeups. You can't see any action.

I hate this kind of film making. It is like the way they have done batman lately where every things is dark and done in close up so you get the impression of action but you can't see a damn thing.

What's the point?

The point is to prevent the audience from seeing the puppet strings attached to Ripley's head and arms while also concealing her animatronic movements.

i hate that too. so many movies do it now. action scenes are literally a series of 1 second shots.

It is a cheap cop out to imply action they don't have to pay to produce, as opposed to say a the Raid: Redemption. I feel cheated and don't bother with it when I cant see what I am watching.

Rain Man 06-12-2014 04:47 PM

I'm glad to hear that others hate that kind of filming, too. If a movie does that in a trailer, it's a confirmation that I'm never going to go see it. It's annoying.
