As Anyone Using Google Knows, Today Would Be Jonas Salk's 100th Birthday

He developed a vaccine for a horrible, paralyzing disease which had stricken 20,000 children the year before he introduced the vaccine (1957), and only the fear of the atomic bomb was greater in the U.S. according to a PBS documentary of 2009.

Most of you already knew all that. Did you also know he refused to patent the vaccine, instead giving it to the world?

This act of generosity was estimated to have been worth $7,000,000,000...
