HDD not recognized windows 8.1
Just built a desktop and everything seems to work good but I can't get it to recognize my western digital 1tb hdd and I don't know what else to do at this point.
It reads the 250gb SSD though so it is up and running with windows 8.1. I downloaded the Data Lifeguard Diagnostics from western digital and it list the hdd there and has a big green check mark next to it and says it passed. However when I check under "This PC" It only shows my 250 ssd and the dvd drive. What could I be doing wrong here? Could this be a driver issue? |
U have to assign the HDD a letter. Google how to do it same thing happened with my 1 tb hard drive

In the future, please use the Media Center forum.
Regarding your drive... How is the WD 1TB formatted? Or is it formatted? If you haven't used it before, you'll have to format the drive before it can be used by Windows. |
Put the No Thanks File System on the drive
|
Start Menu > start typing Disk Management > Verify there is a partition/volume on the drive.

That made me laugh for realz. In other news; I would rather finger Bruce Jenner's new coochie while reading "De Berg; a lifetime of CP Posting" than run Windows 8. |

Thanks. It wasn't formatted or assigned a letter but it also wouldn't allow me to right click on the drive in disk management. After right clicking on storage and hitting refresh it would then let me.
