Dwight Freeney

This board is slooooow....

Would you sign at a vet minimum to serve as depth until Houston gets back?

He is begging for work and says he will go anywhere...

BossChief 05-12-2016 09:48 AM

I'd sign him just to work with Dee Ford on trying to develop a spin move.

BlackHelicopters 05-12-2016 09:49 AM

Vet minimum? Yes

He has a spin move, but it's just in the wrong direction.

We need to sign somebody.

Unless Stainer err Staylor really does have a direct line to God and knows that Houston is going to be 100% Day 1.

For a bare bones vet deal with no bonus? Probably, just until Houston is firing on all cylinders again.

Andy Reid said Houston is ahead of schedule. He's going to play this year and more than likely he'll be ready for Week 1.

I don't think the Chiefs need to make any drastic moves like signing Dwight Freeney just for the sake of saying, "Well, we wanted to be prepared for Houston not being around for a couple weeks." If they do that, I can easily see Freeney stinking up the joint and having fans lambast Dorsey for bringing him aboard.

Didn't say it should be Freeney

I figure that Houston would play this year, it's just a matter of WHEN Houston is 100%. I really don't want to lose 2/3 games waiting if we can sign a cheap vet to help us short term.

Do you trust Ford even in the short term?

No to one-dimensional, broke-dick, has-beens.

We need that one dimension for a few games until Houston comes back.

We won a string of games at the end of last year with Ford as one of the starting OLBs. Even if he doesn't improve one bit this year, there's no reason why we can't do the same against the scheduled opponents we have this year at the beginning of the season.

This is entirely about finding a guy to replace Hali should the need arise due to injury or rotation in the game. Yeah, that's pretty important, but I don't think an equally washed up vet like Freeney is the answer. I'd rather just roll with Zombo/Massaquoi and take the mulligan.

mcaj22 05-12-2016 10:14 AM

not saying we should sign him but he was the only pass rusher the Cardinals had in the playoffs worth a shit. Surprised he cant find work hes still a capable 3rd down rush specialist 8 sacks in 11 games isnt bad for a part time player

Exactly my thought when I saw this thread. Hire him to teach Ford technique.

Titty Meat 05-12-2016 10:19 AM

Don't think we need him between Ford/Hali/Nichols those guys could combine for 12 sacks well be ok.
