Saw this story and thought it was cool.

 Good stuff George.

Teams should be FORCED to tear down those blighted old stadiums as part of the deal when they first build.
|
Yep, the Astrodome still stands right next to NRG Stadium in Houston. On one hand it is cool to see up close, on the other, it is just sitting empty and deteriorating. It really needs to come down.

There's plans underway to save Kemper Arena for youth sports in the old stockyards in KC. Municipal Auditorium in Downtown KC has amazing history. It's hosted more NCAA final fours than any other building. And it's a beautiful art deco structure. Just an amazing place.

In the same vein, images of former Olympic venues.

Good times. |
I look at the Silverdome and see so much waste. That filed turf could have been torn up and used for nice youth field somewhere and all those seats could have been reused for something else. I had to see usable things like that wasted.

Never really was much into wrestling, but when we watched, it was Mid-South, not WWF or the 'hollywood' stuff, because my grandma [and mom's whole side of the family down in LA really] watched Mid-South forever. |
They all still look better than where the Raiders play.
|
I though the Astrodome was owned by Joel Osteen. Guess not.
It is a shame how these places look. What will Sochi and the Olympic areas of China and Brazil look in 10 years? |
just think, some of those stadiums were built and now abandoned since the last time the Chiefs won a Super Bowl
